The U.S. Embassy in Manama issued a security alert warning that “in light of regional events, there is potential for spontaneous demonstrations or unrest to take place in Bahrain over the coming days, and possibly beyond”. “While we have no information indicating a threat to American citizens”, the statement added, “we encourage you to continually exercise the appropriate level of security awareness in regards to your personal security and in the face of any anti-U.S. activity that may arise in Bahrain”.
