Asked about the 15 May move to evacuate of non-essential personnel from U.S. diplomatic facilities in Baghdad and Erbil, Secretary Pompeo explained that "all should know that there is real data that underlies the risks that we've identified that caused us to make these decisions... we concluded, giving the escalating risk in the region, that it made sense for us to get those non-essential personnel out of Iraq".
