The UN confirmed that “an Improvised Explosive Device (IED) detonated… in Ninewa Governorate, impacting a passing UN vehicle. One World Food Programme (WFP) staff member was hurt”. In a 5 September statement referring to the incident, the UN underscored that it “is present in Iraq at the request of the government of Iraq”, adding that “any claims of UN bias towards other organisations or individual member States are entirely baseless”.
