The U.S. confirmed a 120-day extension of sanctions waivers for Iraqi imports of Iranian electricity, asserting that “the Secretary [of State] determined this waiver is in the national security interest of the U.S., and vital to the national security of the U.S., with respect to Iraq, and certifies that this jurisdiction faced exceptional circumstances preventing it from significantly reducing its purchases of petroleum and petroleum products from Iran”.
