Responding to a question asking if “the U.S. [is] operating under the timeline of four weeks that the Iraqi government referenced for getting those forces [moved from Syria] out of Iraq”, a senior U.S. defence official said that “we’re in Iraq at the invitation of the Iraqi government… we’ve committed to working with them on a timeline. I don’t believe that there has been an agreed upon, exact end-date because they’re committed to the D-ISIS mission, as well, and they know that some of the forces that we’re moving through are going to be helpful into that mission”.
