Discussing Lebanon, a senior U.S. diplomat underscored “the urgency for political leaders to quickly form a capable and responsive government backed by the Lebanese people that is dedicated to enacting reforms and ending endemic corruption”. He further emphasised that “no party should be perpetrating violence against other parties”, and assessed that “the Lebanese people have shown… that they’re fed up and they want a new kind of government, but this is up to them entirely”.
