Supreme Leader Ali Khamenei told Russian President Putin that “the occupation of the oil-rich areas east of the Euphrates by the Americans… should be resolved by expelling them from that area”. Relatedly, the U.S.-led counter-ISIS coalition reaffirmed its commitment “to empowering and equipping our Partner Forces with skills and knowledge to provide fully capable local forces to defend north east Syria and its people against terrorist networks, contributing to peace and regional stability”.
