National Security Advisor Jake Sullivan revealed that “our information indicates that the Iranian government is preparing to provide Russia with up to several hundred UAVs, including weapons-capable UAVs on an expedited timeline”. The following day, the National Security Council’s spokesperson stated:  “I don’t know that this necessarily has any effect on our efforts to try to get a nuclear deal with Iran”, affirming: “We continue to want to see a nuclear deal that takes Iran’s nuclear ambitions, at least nuclear weapons ambitions, off the table”. Iran’s foreign ministry spokesperson maintained that cooperation with Russia “in the field of some new technologies dates back to before the start of the war in Ukraine and there has been no special development in this relationship recently”.
