The IDF chief of staff stated: “We are considering our steps, and this launch of so many missiles, cruise missiles and UAVs into the territory of the State of Israel [by Iran on 13 April] will be met with a response”. The same day, a U.S. national security spokesperson highlighted that Iran’s strike sought “clearly to cause significant destruction and casualties”, adding: “The Israeli government will determine for themselves if there’s going to be a response and what that response is going to look like… We don’t want to see a war with Iran. We don’t want to see a broader regional conflict. We will do what we have to do to defend Israel”.
