The U.S. Special Representative for Iran, Brian Hook, reaffirmed that the UN arms embargo on Iran “should be extended… we do have the right to snap back all sanctions. That’s not our preference. Lettering the arms embargo lapse [in October] would be bad for everybody”. Hook also contended that the Iranians “were in a world of hurt before COVID-19 hit, and at some point they are going to come to the table, and if the president gets a second term I don’t see how they are going to grind out four more years”.
