In a statement marking the anniversary of the 1979 hostage crisis, Secretary of State Pompeo asserted that “the Iranian regime continues to utilise the inhumane tactic of hostage-taking to advance its destructive agenda” and urged Tehran to release imprisoned U.S. citizens. “The regime’s longest-suffering victims are the Iranian people, and they deserve better”, Pompeo added.
