Asked whether Iran appears inclined to enter into talks with the U.S., Secretary Pompeo remarked that "we haven't seen any indication of that yet, but we're very hopeful that they will do that". He also underscored humanitarian exemptions to U.S. sanctions, adding that Tehran must "make a decision that they want to use their wealth to import medicine, and not use their wealth to fund Qasem Soleimani's travels around the Middle East... causing death and destruction".
