United Kingdom Maritime Trade Operations (UKMTO) reported that “a vessel had been boarded by armed men while at anchor” in the Gulf of Oman. Media reports indicated that the vessel was SC Taipei, a Hong Kong-flagged tanker. UKMTO subsequently confirmed the ship’s release, and added that the event was “assessed to be an isolated incident of state-based intervention, with no wider threat to maritime shipping in the region”.
