A U.S. diplomatic spokesperson confirmed that the Biden administration had “notified Congress of the intent to provide additional support for the Lebanese Armed Forces”, adding: “We want to ensure that the Lebanese Armed Forces is able to carry out its duties and functions, including the ability to defend Lebanon’s territorial integrity, provide internal security and preserve stability”.
