The U.S. embassy in Baghdad on 25 April published a social media post arguing that "corruption is rife in all parts of the Iranian regime, starting at the top", and estimating the wealth of Supreme Leader Ali Khamenei at $200 billion. In response, the Iraqi government asserted that the post was "a violation of diplomatic norms", underscored its position against serving as "a corridor or a platform for harming neighbouring countries or friendly countries", and urged the embassy to remove the publication in question.
