Crisis Group is profoundly grateful to its foundation donors, whose long-term funding is vital to the impact of our organisation. We engage substantively with these partners through private policy briefings, roundtables, and rapid response from field experts and senior staff. Crisis Group in turn benefits from this sustained engagement and knowledge sharing with its donors. Our partners have come to rely on our information and analysis on developing emergencies.
Crisis Group gratefully acknowledges the following foundation donors for their support and cooperation:
Over the past decade, the number of wars has grown by nearly 50 per cent, forcing almost 75,000,000 people to flee their homes in 2018 alone. At the same time, the philanthropic response to this crisis has been modest, with less than 1 per cent of donors giving to peace and security causes. Many philanthropists are disheartened by problems related to global conflict, reasoning that they are too large to be tackled at the individual level.
Yet philanthropy does have an impact on the problems of armed conflict, huge as they are, and it does help resolve those problems. Whether you give to help understand a fresh emergency on the ground, to support our dialogue and advocacy work or to sustain the field-based research undergirding our reports and policy recommendations, your gifts and grants save lives.
In thanks and appreciation of our generous foundation supporters, we offer special recognition through our new initiative – Philanthropists for Peace and its three societies.
