As Senior Communications and Advocacy Officer, he develops communications and advocacy strategies, oversees publications and content, and manages relations with the media, national authorities and civil society in Latin America and the Caribbean. Professional Background André has worked on human rights and conflict since 2015, covering issues like violence by security forces, attacks on journalists and activists, migrants and refugees, public health, environmental degradation, corporate crimes, gender and racial discrimination, and genocide. He worked at Amnesty International for 7 years as Advocacy Intern for Mexico, Campaigns Assistant for the Americas, and Campaigner for South America. He also conducted research on countries like Ecuador, Peru, Bolivia, Brazil, Paraguay, Mexico and Guatemala. Previous to joining Amnesty International, he was Associate Researcher on the Darfur crisis in Sudan at the Memory and Tolerance Museum in Mexico City. André holds a Master’s degree in International Relations from the National Autonomous University of Mexico.
