Susana Malcorra, Former Foreign Minister of Argentina, Appointed Co-chair of Crisis Group Board

The International Crisis Group is delighted to announce the appointment of Susana Malcorra, current Crisis Group Trustee and former Foreign Minister of Argentina & Chef de Cabinet to the United Nations Secretary-General, as Co-chair of Crisis Group’s Board of Directors. Ms. Malcorra will serve alongside Frank Giustra, Co-chair of the Board since 2020. Lord Mark Malloch-Brown will continue as a Director and Trustee.

“I’m thrilled to welcome Susana as my Co-chair, and look forward to working together to bring Crisis Group’s conflict prevention work to new heights”, said Co-chair of the Board Frank Giustra. “Her commitment to conflict resolution and prevention – during her years of experience both in government and at the United Nations – has consistently reflected our organisation’s values and mission”.

“Susana’s experience as Foreign Minister of Argentina, as well as in different very senior roles at the UN and in academia, makes her an excellent choice to helm the Board. I wholeheartedly congratulate her on the appointment”, said retiring Co-chair of the Board Lord Mark Malloch-Brown.

“I am honoured to take on the role of Co-chair of the Board”, Ms. Malcorra said. “Crisis Group’s mission and values have long been close to my own. The ideas and guidance Crisis Group provides governments and policymakers are invaluable. With the number of people affected and displaced by conflict at an all-time high, the organisation’s mission is more important than ever before.”
